As a Christian church community we celebrated our 125th Anniversary in May 2000. This web site was launched to mark the occasion and is undergoing continual development, so do call back again!
The Toorak Uniting Church (TUC) had its origins in the Toorak Presbyterian Church, established in 1875 with the Rev. Murdoch MacDonald as Minister.
The Uniting Church in Australia was born in 1977, as a union of the Methodist, Congregational and Presbyterian Churches, founded on The Basis of Union.
The UCA is built on the one foundation of Christ who is the Word of God as attested by the biblical witnesses.
Toorak Uniting Church, as 'a household of faith', is committed to the wider ecumenical purposes of the UCA.
It works closely in fellowship with the local Toorak Anglican and Roman Catholic Churches.
The Toorak Ecumenical Movement, inaugurated in 1980, by Saint John's,
Saint Peter's and TUC,
committed to worship, witness and serve together and that commitment has remained ever since.
The covenant is renewed each year at a Pentecost Ecumenical Service.
The Ecumenical Agreement in practice means we pray for each other, we work together,
we study together and we worship together.
